VI Package Manager (VIPM) > Appendix A: Troubleshooting

VIPM cannot connect to the Internet

There are many reasons why you might experience problems connecting to the Internet, in order to check for VIPM updates and check for package updates.  Try the following:

Configure Firewall – Make sure that any firewall software is configured to allow VIPM ("VI Package Manager.exe") to access the Internet.

Configure Proxy – In most cases, using the default VIPM networks settings should suffice. However, you might have a special configuration that requires manual configuration. In this case, make sure that you have configured VIPM (in the Network options) to use the manual proxy server settings provided by your IT department.

Test Connection – Make sure that other applications can access the Internet.  If other applications cannot connect either, then the problem is probably not related to VIPM.
