A commonly asked question is:
Which and how many VIPM
licenses do I need to purchase in order to use
VIPM Enterprise in my organization?
Here's what you'll need:
- One VIPM Professional license for each user who is:
- Building
VI Packages and/or
- Create and manage VI Package configurations for LabVIEW
projects
- One VIPM Enterprise license for each user who is managing
the VI Package Repository:
- Adding, removing, and deprecating VI Packages
- Managing authorized VIPM network clients).
- As many free copies of VIPM Community edition as you like,
for users who only need to download and install VI Packages.
- One VI Package Repository Client license for each computer
with VIPM that will connect to your VI Package repository (This includes Community edition clients).
For example, let's say that you have 8 members on your team:
- Jane is the reuse team leader. She will be
administering the
repositry, releasing VI Packages and managing which VIPM clients will
be authorized to access the repository.
- Joe, John, and Jerry are part of the reuse team.
They will be
building VI Packages.
- Jake and Jenny are project team leaders who will be
managing VI Package
Configurations used on their projects.
- Jill and Jeff are developers who work on projects.
They don't need to build VI Packages or create VI Package
Configurations.
So, you'll need:
- One (1) VIPM Enterprise license for Jane (1 x $1,499)
- Five (5) VIPM Professional licenses for Joe, John, Jerry,
Jake, and Jenny (5 x $899.10 - Note the
discount due to quantity)
- Two (2) free copies of VIPM Community Edition for Jill
and Jeff (2 x $0)
- Eight (8) VI Package Repository Client licenses (8 x
$319.80 - Note the
discount due to quantity)
Total cost: $8552.90
Note: VIPM Enterprise also includes all the features of VIPM Professional. So, for example, a VIPM Enterprise user can also build packages.
