Running the Installer

Before you can open and run the installer, make sure you are logged into your operating system with Administrator privileges or you are using an account with rights to install applications. Also make sure you have the LabVIEW 8.2.1 Run-Time Engine installed. See the Troubleshooting section for help on getting the LabVIEW Run-Time engine.

Open VIPM Installer. This will start the installation process by displaying the following progress box.

Select Proceed with Installation and click Next button to confirm the beginning of installation process.

If a VIPM happens to already be running, which might very well happen if you are installing an upgrade, then you will be presented with a dialog (see figure below) that informs you of the fact that VIPM appears to be already running.  Close VIPM and then press the Retry button to continue, or press the Cancel button to abort the installation.

It might be possible under very rare circumstances that you are presented with the aforementioned dialog when VIPM is not actually running.  If this is the case, press the Retry button.  The VIPM installer will present you with an additional Ignore button.  Pressing the Ignore button will proceed with the installation, in spite of the fact that VIPM appears to be running.

The next step is to choose a destination directory.  If you are upgrading an existing VIPM installation, then you will not have a choice of where to install VIPM, but rather, the installer will automatically choose the existing location.

Select the destination directory for installation files or leave the default location displayed. Click Next to install VIPM at the selected location. The installer will display the status of the installation as shown.
