Package: A package is a file which contains all of the necessary components wrapped together along with the actual tool which is to be installed. The package provides information related to its destination, compatible LabVIEW versions etc.

Package Repository: It is a central location containing packages. It can be a URL or a Path. Once the repository is added, VIPM will fetch all the packages in the repository. Currently only the OpenG package repository is available from VIPM.

LabVIEW Version: This is the version of LabVIEW for which VIPM will manage packages. VIPM is capable of managing packages for any LabVIEW version you have installed.

Library: The library is simply a location (folder) on your computer where the packages will be downloaded from the repository before installing.

Package Configuration (File): This is a list of packages that is managed as a group and applies to a specific LabVIEW version. This list can be saved to a file and later recalled and applied.
